(Tim Schoon/ University of Iowa) The PGC Project (Plastic Gyre Clean-Up), is a collaborative, interactive installation educating viewers on gyre systems, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, plastic pollution, and recycling. Prompted by audio and visual cues, viewers are led in a circular motion through a gyre shaped, plastic inflatable that is created entirely from recycled sheet plastics. Underwater documentation of marine life and plastic pollution are projection mapped onto the exterior of the inflatable, illuminating the installation space and activating an immersive experience.
